Very nice!
My first brick patterned board was assembled wrong, but I didn't notice it until later so it was a little too late. I also struggled with the geometry a bit (my worst subject in all of the maths) so the dimensions are a little wonky, but you know what, my friend loved hers and the one I made myself still looks amazing.
I see you've done juice grooves - that's my next skill to try. A co-worker who bought one of my cutting boards already wants another one if I can do the juice groove. I bought a jig from Rockler and I'm going to test it out on a small board I'm making my wife (it's currently in clamps.) Just makes me a little nervous, but slow and steady win the race!
My biggest project was doing bookcases in my basement. We bought our house almost three years ago and the basement was the perfect spot for built in shelves. Not everything went perfect, but I'm still proud of the results. I shared the pics before, but if you missed them, I'm more than happy to share again here.

Before all of today's errands and other projects, I trimmed my four boards to size (I'm probably going to adjust the widths still to give them a better size ratio.) Edge profiling will be later and will be based entirely on vibes. 🙂

Looking good. Would love to see the bookshelves. My house is almost finished so bookshelves will be on my list of things to do

The house we found had a ton of custom built-ins on the first floor so it was kind of meant to be since my wife and I have A TON of books. 🙂
Even though there's technically nothing wrong with what I built two years ago, I would love to have the time and money to redo them just because I know I can do a better job. Nooooooo stop thinking that. 🙂

These were my first large scale project. I knew enough to be dangerous. 🙂
Maple plywood for the carcasses, except the backs are red oak plywood (the wood store was out of stock on 1/4" maple that day) and painted poplar for face frames. Sitting on a 2x4 base.
My biggest regret is failing to cut out holes for the outlets I blocked.
One side is shorter because of HVAC.
I've since made six other similar bookcases in a different part of the basement since my book collection kept growing.
The original idea was to paint everything with the grey color used for the face frames, but I was afraid it would be too dark. I like this look better.
The short portions are for my surround sound speakers since this room serves as our media/movie room.
Also picture of my lab "helping" (her name is Rocinante - we have since gotten her a sister named Anubis.)
I know I said above I'd love to have the time and money to redo these, but I'm still pretty damn proud that I was able to make these with my hands.

And proud you should be. Those look great and you've got the pup stamp of approval. I'm still struggling to decide on darker or lighter tone wood. We deal in exotic hardwoods at the shop i part time in (soon to be owned by my brother). I might just have to take some books over to get some visual. And here a pic of my pup Enyo

Keep having fun and creating awesome things. The ability to work with wood is a great skill. I think the mathematical part (and patience required) of it is what holds me back from more projects.

The maths indeed!
Geometry was my worst subject in math and I can really feel when trying to design cabinets ms bookcases. Such a struggle for me trying to picture how to put all of the pieces together.
I updated some parts to my bandsaw over the weekend and I’m excited about using that tool more. Bandsaw boxes seem like a lot of fun but some of them hurt my brain a little bit.
Keep having fun and creating awesome things. The ability to work with wood is a great skill. I think the mathematical part (and patience required) of it is what holds me back from more projects.

Here are some shots of the finished pieces.
First time doing juice grooves - take it slow; pain in the butt to sand. But I'm getting better at that and a co-worker of mine expressed interested in two more boards as long as I was able to add some juice grooves.

My latest batch of cutting boards -
It took some convincing from my wife, but I'm making this little hobby legit. I've been fairly profitable when I've sold my various boards, so a couple of weeks ago I got filed for a trade name and got the sales tax permits for Colorado.
Hoping to get into a craft fair in November (the same one my wife has done twice) which means I'll be HELLA BUSY if I do get into that one.
I decided to call my little operation Sixgill Woodworking. My wife designed my logo which I'm really happy with. I do need some new updated "me" pictures on my site, and also realize I need to start taking better pictures of my products.

Admittedly I'm a little concerned about lugging all of these boards around. 🙂
My wife had an out door market a month or so ago and it was such a pain in the ass getting everything from the car (and we lucked out and had a semi-close spot too) and back again. She has two more outdoor shows and I'm already dreading the move. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it just wasn't so damn hot!
