[#105]

This weekend is the the Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair. The best part is it's right down the road from me!

I went a couple of years ago when it was south of Denver (so a bit of a trek but nothing too bad) so when I learned it was in Loveland, that was a nice bonus.

Even better, one of my buddies is a vendor and I volunteered to help him setup and man his booth during the show, which means I'm also a vendor now and get all the benefits of those sweet vendor to vendor discounts. 🙂

There are a couple of books I'm looking for - a 1/1 of Lonesome Dove (as a present to my wife) and a US 1/1 of Watership Down because I just love that book.

Of course I'll be keeping my eyes out for anything else that I can't live without.

Good luck on your search.  Watership Down, a long time favorite!

Happy hunting and good luck!

Antiquarian bookshows are fantastically fun...one of (among a number of) the things I miss about WA state was the annual Seattle Antiquarian Bookfair. I attended every year for probably two decades, and didn't realize how good I had it...AZ doesn't have any antiquarian bookfairs. Yes, I suppose I can go to the big one in San Francisco, and there's the annual paperback show just outside of L.A., and I believe there's one in New Mexico, but nothing in the Phoenix area or anywhere in AZ, which I find both puzzling and disappointing. There're a couple indie-author / small-time publishing fairs in Scottsdale and Tucson, but no book collector-type fairs. 🙁

Sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy, and make sure to let us know about all your awesome finds so we can be suitably jealous!!

@ronclinton I went to the Seattle one once - it was shortly before I moved out of Washington. I never knew about it about meeting my buddy (via The Dark Tower where I was looking for a book - same buddy who is now a vendor at these fairs.) The Seattle one was amazing. This was my second one here and it's a different scale (smaller) than Seattle.

I did find a 1/1 Lonesome Dove but it was price clipped. Price was good but I hemmed and hawed too long and it eventually got sold. I never did see Watership Down but I did come across a really nice signed/inscribed 1/1 of Shardik but didn't get it.

What I did find was a triple signed Cassandra Clare book for my wife, this really cool Harlan Ellison book that was not only signed by him, but also Frank Miller. And then the last day I picked up two signed Ray Bradbury books. Little bit of buyer's remorse on the Bradbury's because they were quite a bit, but oh well, it's only money.

There was some really cool books out there - SO MANY first edition Blood Meridians! I think they only reason it's so rare is every book seller has one so no collector does.  😂

@tacomadiver It sounds like a fantastic time. My area is such a wasteland for things like this. We don't even have any good used book stores. The few we have just look like books at a rummage sale.
