Some progress shots of a few of the projects I'm currently working on . . .
I made a set of charcuterie boards over the Holidays that I gave as gifts to friends and neighbors, but also I've sold a few to some co-workers, along with a few cutting boards.
Currently I have two "active" orders for cutting boards from co-workers, plus two that I'm making for family, AND the potential for two more cutting boards from other co-workers.
Busy busy!
This weekend I purchased about 24 board feet of Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Walnut, and Canarywood. Milled it down at the library (my library has a full on wood shop; I don't own a jointer which they have.)
I then proceeded to cut all of these nice square boards into a lot of strips.
And just this evening I glued up a bunch of those strips into big blocks.
Once these dry, I'll cut them into strips AGAIN before gluing them back up AGAIN.
The design plan is to make an incremental design where I take a thick strip of one wood, match it with a thin strip of the other, and then a slightly thinner strip of the first wood with a slightly thicker strip of the second wood to make a neat pattern.
Essentially that's woodworking - cutting boards into strips and gluing them back up to cut into strips. And boxes. Lots of boxes.

That's wild, first time I've heard of such a thing. Enjoy the wordworking...having seen your earlier projects, I'm confident these new boards will be beautiful.

Super fortunate that our library has a full on woodshop, along with a ton of other maker options, plus experiences you can check out (like national park passes, museum passes, telescopes, etc.)
I'm hoping to be able to buy a jointer this year so I may not be using my library as much as I have in the past. Just have to find another tool they have that I don't (like that drum sander ...)

I wish I could get you and my step-dad together, lol. You guys would have a ball talking woodworking. I understand everything you say here because I hear the same things every time I see him. I wish I had the skill and talent to make beautiful things like you two do!

A littler later (today I'm thinking - all depends on work schedule) I'll post pics of the charcuterie boards that I've already done. The handles give me fits but I'm working on figuring out my bandsaw setup so I can do the curves better.

Here are some of the charcuterie boards I've made recently:
They're all about 10" x 20". The handles are tricky which is why I'm trying to get my bandsaw situated so I remove as much of the waste as I can before hitting the rest with a pattern bit on my router.
And there here are a few of the cutting boards I've made (two I sold to co-workers; the small went to my next door neighbor.) The larger boards are about 12" x 18"
