General music thread to share your current playlist(s).
Last night we spent two hours listening to various live tracks from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. I miss him and his band so much. Listening to those songs reminded me what real music is all about.
Provided Tom's addiction problem, which came to light for me, after his death, there were a few songs that had a little different meaning to me than before.
Those problems aside, their music is still something that I very much connect with.

I don't really listen to popular music much, unless I'm in a car...weird, I know. Most of the music I listen to now are movie scores, while I read comics. Currently listening to my 4-disc limited edition of Michael Kamen's ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES while reading THE ESCAPIST: AMAZING ADVENTURES.

That sounds like fun. Over the weekend I jumped around the soundtrack to City of Angels. There are a few good ones on that one.
I don't recall the last time I actually listened to a movies score. I'll have to see if I have any CD's tucked away that I can revisit.
For any of the Gen X folks here we just finished dinner and then a workout listening to the Best of Poison. That was the music of me and my wife's first date. Played on my 88 Dodge Daytona's tape deck. :p

Man, I love Tom Petty. One of my biggest regrets was passing on seeing him in concert about twenty years ago. My wife worked for a place selling the tickets and would’ve been able to get us good seats and everything.

I was able to go to one of his concerts. Honestly was a decent set but pretty short. The real highlight was ZZ Top. I had always enjoyed their music but I am not a huge fan. They really brought the energy to the stage, had fun, and rocked.
On the other hand Tom and Band had a mellow set with very little energy. Not sure if this was on the end of a tour or what but they played flat.
We are currently listening to Kacie Musgraves latest album. There are some really good songs on that album. I always surprised that she doesn't receive more recognition in the Country scene.
Mexican Honey, Everybody wants to be a Cowboy, and Back on the Wagon are very good tunes. Dry Spell is one of the funnier/witty songs I've heard in awhile.
One thing I like about her, through multiple albums, is that what she sings feels genuine. Like those lyrics are truly her words and thoughts, and not just written to meet the current trends or analytics for the industry.
Man, I love Tom Petty.

Typically listening to songs/singers/groups from the 60s, 70s & 80s ... music I grew up on
Had a chance to see the current incarnation of Journey on their Final Frontier tour a little while back. A nice reminder of how much great music they produced over their 50+ years

The real highlight was ZZ Top. I had always enjoyed their music but I am not a huge fan. They really brought the energy to the stage, had fun, and rocked.
The only two concerts that physically hurt my ears were ZZ Top and The Foo Fighters, both of which I saw for the first time within the last five, ten years. Turns out age (I guess?) did a number of my hearing and extra loud concerts (and they were even outdoor!) like that are as much pain as pleasure. I've learned to bring ear plugs, just in case. But both were great shows, especially the Foo Fighters...Kris Novoselic was the guest at the Foo Fighters concert (was in Seattle), so it was pretty cool seeing 2/3 of Nirvana up on stage.

I never did see Petty and crew, but the most boring concert I ever attended was Sheryl Crow. She's not really my thing anyhow, it was my wife's choice, but even still...talk about "very little energy", she could not have been more disinterested and the best part of that night was (finally) going home.

It's always a bummer when you run into a low energy live event. Performers are just human so it happens but it stinks for the audience.

We tried to listen to a new CD (to us) this past week. I was never a huge fan of The Cure but thought we would try a best of. Neither of us were a fan, and this CD, was a DNF. It will go to the donations box at some point.
The tracks leading up to the songs which I am familiar with were not our thing.
