I admit, there is part of me that thinks I knew this, but tonight while attending a Daniel Kraus book event here in Denver, I learned that Earthling was going to publish an edition of Whalefall which will also include a new introduction from Stephen Graham Jones.
While I don't buy very many books from Earthling (I might own two or three, four tops) I would definitely love to add this edition to my collection.

As I'm reading BENT HEAVENS, I'm wondering why there haven't been more Kraus limited editions. This is my fourth book by him, and I've considered three out of the four to be outstanding.

He’s not a new author by any stretch of the imagination for sure, new to me yes, but he has quite the bibliography, and I’m only aware of the SST edition of Whalefall
Maybe we will see more limited editions? I know that SST has another one in the wings (don’t know which title).

I read what I believe was his debut novel, ROTTERS, right after it was released, which seems like ages ago. I have a lot of his books, but I'm just now getting around to reading them, due to my "surplus of free time", lol. ROTTERS was phenomenal, by the way, I highly recommend it.

I am very late to the Kraus train, though he is a frequent guest on the Colors of the Dark podcast, so I've heard him talk quite a bit. I keep eyeing that Whalefall limited from SST, but just haven't quite been able to pull the trigger. That's no slight to Kraus, though. Beyond Centipede Press titles, I find it hard to pull the trigger on anything as of late.
In a recent Earthling newsletter, Paul mentioned two new Modern Classics titles being announced soon. I wonder if Whalefall is one of them?
As for Kraus's bibliography, I remember the buzz around Rotters when it came out but never got around to reading it. I am, however, very intrigued by Partially Devoured: How NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD Saved My Life and Changed the World. NOTLD is in my Top 5 favorite horror films of all time--it was actually the first horror movie I saw that profoundly unsettled me; the black-and-white stills at the end are powerful even today--so this is right up my alley.
I also stumbled across They Threw Us Away, the first book of The Teddies Saga, which is about discarded Teddy Bears battling their way back to their owners, and is described as "part Toy Story and part Lord of the Flies." This is a middle grade book, so I won't be picking it up, but the synopsis sounds like I would have loved this when was I was twelve.

I’m in the minority, apparently, given the book’s popularity, but I didn’t really care for WHALEFALL, though admired the way it handled its plot device pretty skillfully. I tried ROTTERS back in the day, but I DNFd it about a third of the way in. I have the SST edition of THE LIVING DEAD, the massive, posthumously (Romero) published zombie novel, but haven’t read it yet. So thus far Kraus just hasn’t clicked with me, for whatever reason, but maybe TLD will finally do the trick.

You might still enjoy it...ROTTERS was a YA book, and I think that was just a marketing decision. It was a brutal, depressing book.

We are on the same page with this one. I finished it out of tenacity only. It was just okay and didn't hit right on many points for me.

I tried to read one Kraus book, The Living Dead, which I DNF'd around the half way mark. I don't know if it was his writing or Romero's, but the story certainly didn't work for me.
I have to admit that, on one hand, the premise to Whalefall sounds very intriguing. On the other hand, it sounds completely fucking ridiculous!
Earthling doing a limited edition of Whalefall will probably be the motivation I need to give Kraus another try.
