[#104]

Per this morning's newsletter, the three-volume slipcased set Earthling has been hinting at is being announced next week on August 18th and for the sale the week after on August 25th. The books will be sold individually and as a slipcased set. The only hints we have so far are (a) it's an Earthling author, and (b) "one of the books will be a the true first edition of a short novel folks have been waiting for." Right now, I can't pull any titles off the top of my head. Anybody else want to hazard a guess?

I came here hoping for some insight, too. No idea who it might be, but "true first edition" presumably means it was either originally a Print-on-Demand (POD) item or is an unpublished item...but if it's the latter, how are people aware of it and "been waiting for" it, unless, I suppose, the author has mentioned in in the past.

Guess we'll find out in a week's time!

Yep. I don't have a guess either. It's exciting to have a little announcement to look forward to. It seems like things have slowed down a bit on the announcement front lately.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say it's Philip Fracassi.... he mentioned recently on his socials that some of his books were being pulled from publication ahead of a "glorious" re-release (mostly) in 2027

This is a solid guess, except another publisher has already kinda sorta pre-announced this already. I'm being vague because I don't know if it was a public announcement or not.

Well, dang it, I was kinda hoping you'd have the inside scoop! 🙂 I guess it'll be a surprise to all of us!

I think the book set is going to be Nathan Ballingrud's Lunar Gothic Trilogy. All short novels, and the third book doesn't release until October, giving this the chance to be a true 1st. Ballingrud did the intro for Widows of Winding Gale.

I'm a big Ballingrud fan, so I'm hoping this is the set. Really enjoying this series too, and getting a true 1st Limited/illustrated would be great.

If correct, that would be great news -- even though I'm a big Ballingrud fan, I've only read the first, so this would be a wonderful way to read the others.

That would be a welcome publication. Now we just need Paul to dish.

This is a fantastic guess and now I want it to be this so bad.

Thanks! I posted sporadically on the CD forum for about a year w/ the name Boggle Champion. Saw this forum when BJF linked it in his Patreon, just hadn't gotten around to making an account before.
