Haffner is a horrible guy. I used to think CD is bad, but Stephen Haffner takes the cake for the most unethical publisher I've dealt with. With CD, if you nag them, you'll get your money back. But Haffner is downright low-class. I saw a Facebook message exchange between someone and Haffner, where the guy was asking for a refund, and then Haffner, in his condescending tone, said, "Guess why you haven't received it yet." His books are fine, better than trade HC, but nothing more to run home about. I lost my money for the Balladeer preorder because he didn't respond to my email, and I'd never preorder from his website. Anyone who does, my request is not to do it. Why, because there's no need for such publishing companies to exist in the first place. They make it hard for genuine small press publishers who often rely on preorders as seed money. CD and Haffner are anomalies, and there is no reason to give them an interest-free loan.

Received in a copy of Laird Barrons, Not a Speck of Light, from Bad Hand Books today. It looks nice enough for the price point. It's an oversized production (length and width) with a DJ with no text.
Shipped in a bubble mailer doubled over on itself. Not the best practice in my opinion however the book arrived safely.
#66 out of 500.

LONESOME DOVE is, according to the social media post they made on X (and maybe on the order page...?), supposed to be coming out in August -- so this month. I do hope they're able to accomplish that target.

@ronclinton Thank you, Sir. I'm not on X and was having trouble finding the order page (and order email) to check. I did a giant email purge and maybe I accidentally deleted that one.

Just a heads up for any Philip Fracassi fans (or the Fracassi curious) - The eBook version of A Child Alone With Strangers is just $1.99 at the usual sites. In this ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ horror, Henry's had a tough life - and it just gets worse when he's abducted and taken to a not-so-abandoned cabin in the woods... As usual, check the price before ordering!

My copy was shipped and if things go well, it'll be here this week. Going to use it as an anniversary present for the wife on Thursday (if it arrives on time.)

@ronclinton Woohoo! Mine is somewhere but it's in the mail. Getting excited to see this one in person. I have a feeling it will be a good looking book, but light.
