I was actually thinking of re-reading THE SPEED QUEEN and THE CIRCUS FIRE next. Not sure if anyone else would want a limited of THE CIRCUS FIRE, but there's a part in there when O'Nan describes the circus strongman tossing kids over a fence to safety that gets me every time, even now just thinking about it.

That's a fine and compelling book, though I agree a limited of a non-fiction work might be a hard sell. Or not.

Don't underestimate the haunting, heartrending poignancy of OCEAN STATE, though...good goddamn that was an excellent read. There are lines in there that just ache with yearning and grief.

There's a line in there somewhere of a girl driving on a dark country road and into foggy mist that ultimately holds her future that still haunts me. Imagery that manages to be tender, hopeful, and horrific all at once.

Couple of books arrived today - not sure when I'll get to them, but I have them for the future.

I'm probably more excited for the Frank Miller book (also he's on the latest episode of one of the best comics podcasts - Off Panel - so it might be next up?)

The signed edition (from Barnes and Noble) of Frank Miller's new book, and SST's latest Stephen Graham Jones book.

@tacomadiver The Miller book was occasionally fun, but it was more about encouraging people to become artists than any great recollections about his comics work. I was somewhat entertained, but it wasn't what I wanted/expected.

So this past weekend was the Rocky Mountain Book and Paper Fair - I made this post about it.

I didn't see one of the books I was hoping to find (US 1/1 of Watership Down) and while I did find the 1/1 Lonesome Dove I was looking for, it was price clipped and I hemmed and hawed long enough someone bought it anyway.

But I did get some books - and a case of buyer's remorse. 🙂 

First, I got these from a buddy of mine - I'm not normally an ARC guy, but I do love Greg Rucka and the price was a bargain (plus I either didn't know, or if I did, I forgot, one was signed):

I did find this sweet Harlan Ellison book that I hadn't come across before - signed by Harlan AND Frank Miller, plus it has an extra signed bookplate:

And lastly, I picked up not one, but two signed Bradbury books. These are the buyer's remorse books - but that might be more from the buying experience.

OH! Almost forgot about another Bradbury - not signed this time, but a nice book with illustrations from Dave McKean

Congrats! I've never been to an event like that. I think I would love it. 

Thanks for sharing. The Bradbury with McKean art is super interesting to me. McKean is a fun artist. 

I'm by no means a Bradbury expert, but I wasn't familiar with this story. And it was the McKean art that originally drew my eye to it.

But I did get some books -

I've read a lot of Ray Bradbury over the years but I'm not familiar with those books/stories (although The Homecoming does ring a bell faintly)
