Newsletter contained hints for the best Modern Classics book: “fishy” and “big.”  Since I missed out on the Nepenthe edition,  I’d love for this to be THE FISHERMAN, I think it’s gonna be WHALEFALL. Any other guesses?

My guess is WHALEFALL as well, which I hope is correct as it’ll be an easy pass for me. It could be JAWS, I suppose, but that seems too vintage for that line of books, and Suntup already did an outstanding edition of it.

No idea either, but my first thought was Whalefall too. It's on trend currently so it fits.

I'm hoping for something else.

I read somewhere (and it may have been on this forum) that Whalefall was going to be an Earthling Modern Classic.

Whalefall was a recent read for me, and I found it to be a mixed bag.  I really liked the first 2/3 of the story, but thought it really jumped the shark in the last third.

I saw Daniel Kraus on his one-stop book tour here in Colorado for The Sixth Nik and he told me that Earthling was publishing a version of Whalefall.

Hopefully it's not too expensive and I can get a copy.

So, it is officially Whalefall. This is going to be an easy pass for me. I didn't pull the trigger on the SST edition and Earthling's is sure to be more expensive. I'm happy for everyone is excited for this edition, however. And I can't wait to see the design.

Yep. Whalefall it is.

Super easy decision for me. Others really dug the book while I just tolerated it.
