Goodbye CD Forum

 I have a very bad taste in my mouth about how CD handled the closing of the forum, on top of the bad taste that I already had about decades of pre-order money being held with no books, the endless Chizmar spam e-mails, etc. I just sent Mindy an e-mail asking for a list of my pre-orders. I'm planning on canceling them all, asking for full refunds, unsubscribing from their e-mail list, and never patronizing them again. If this pissed you off, put your money where your mouth is. Vote with your wallet. They were under no obligation to keep the forum running, but some notice could have been given to those of us that used it. Poor customer service all around.

Still can't access on my home machine but if I use my phone (not on wifi) it works, so it must be something with my network.

I think it came up a few years ago (which is why Ron started his email list) that we were all expecting the forum to disappear any day. Guess we were just lucky we had that extra time.

Before it disappeared, Brian mentioned he had an inkling (or maybe just knew) that the current webmaster wasn't able to update the forum anymore and they were going to pull the plug. Yes, it would have been nice to get some advance word out - or at least let us have a week to say goodbye (and announce this site).

Yeah ill will toward CD is justified - I'm not going to claim to know how to run a business or to have any insight as to what happened behind the scenes. My only pre-order is Pet Semetary. Some days I want to cancel; other days I keep holding out hope it'll come.

It's just too bad - CD was my gateway to this particular part of the hobby. The gift edition of IT was my first boutique publisher book. It led me to Subterranean shortly thereafter (The Shining) and from there I was off an running.
