Presale for The Broken Binding LTD release of Lonesome Dove is coming soon. Check your email if you were on the wait list. Not sure about the limited nature of this and not familiar with the company but the book seems like it needs to be in my collection.

I know there were some folks interested in this one.

I'm almost certainly going for a copy. My enthusiasm was a little dampened when I noted this morning that it has PLC boards with no dustjacket -- maybe they'd indicated that before and I just missed it in my excitement -- and the interior art is okay, but it otherwise looks like a nice production. Is it the limited volume I've been hoping would appear from Suntup or, secondarily, Folio? No, but it's as good as it gets so far.

@ronclinton I'm just happy with an edition I can afford TBH.

Very true. The Folio would be twice this, certainly, and the Suntup probably four or five times more, so this BB edition is a lot of bang for the buck.

After almost a decade, Haffner Press is finally shipping their Robert Bloch collection, THE VAMPIRE STORIES OF ROBERT BLOCH. Infamously slow to produce announced titles (and while I've never had issues, I've heard complaints r.e. their communication), this one is, according to their site, finally shipping after being announced in 2017.

I threw myself on the proverbial grenade and ordered a copy last night as soon as I saw it had moved to Shipping status (I've been looking forward to this collection for, well, almost a decade)...I'll let you all know how my order goes.

If you want to throw caution to the wind as I did, you can do so here:

Good luck with your order. I have had my eye on this since I first saw it mentioned, but (Aside from my unemployed status keeping me from buying anything) my prior dealing with the asshole who owns Haffner insures that I will never order from them again. I seem to recall that no dealers carry their books, either. Keep us posted!

It's been three days and no confirmation of the order, other than the original confirmation of payment from PayPal. Dropped an email to him yesterday to touch base and confirm the order went through, and no response yet. It's still early so not going to get worked up yet, but you'd sure think a publisher whose reputation could use some repair would be on top of customer communication. Oh well. Hoping to see the book soon.

Per his messages to me, he HATES to be bothered by questions, and he seemed to delay my order the more I questioned him. Hope you fare better, Ron.

I'd like my book sooner rather than later, so I guess I'll just do my best Elmer Fudd impression for the time being.

Heard enough horror stories regarding this press from multiple people over the last few years. I have never dealt with him and decided long ago that I would never order from him. The biggest dick I have ever dealt with on a business level was Tom Montelone and the stories I have heard about his interactions with his customers reminds me of my dealings with Montelone and his wife. That makes anything he does an easy pass for me.

I'd love to hear your Monteleone stories. (I consider this a "Let it all hang out" board, lol...let 'er rip!)

I had a TON of nasty interactions with him on the Shocklines board, but I always considered him to be just another nasty know-it-all, which that board had no shortage of. (I could start ranting about a bunch of industry pros and just plain old board members who were all smug assholes, but...don't get me started. You'd all hate me before I was done, lol.) I stopped buying anything from Borderlands after he went crazy on a anti-trans rant...I have zero tolerance for that shit. My oldest son is a trans man, and I cannot abide any shit talk that might incite someone to hurt him or cause him harm. So fuck Monteleone..he ruined his career and legacy with one idiotic rant.

As far as the Haffner guy...He doesn't want to be bothered, but if I didn't bother him, I would have never gotten my books. He claimed, in a sarcastic way, that my books had gotten lost under the seat of his truck, but inferred that my bothering him may have contributed to their winding up there. I was hoping to get this Bloch book when it finally came out, but (Aside from being unemployed and on a spending ban, lol) I wouldn't buy from this guy ever again. (I'd probably buy it from a bookstore, but no one seems to carry his publications.)

Your Haffner story is very similar to other stories I have heard regarding him. I will not go into the events that led me to walk away from anything Montelone related. I will say I was through with him long before he went off on his public rants. I will add that it just showed me he was who he said he was. After I stopped doing business with him A still bought his little books through CD and I think I got the cases for them through Camelot. He managed to fuck with me through that as CD had to cancel my Joe Hill Little book because Montelone over sold he quantities and reduced CD's allotment. He is simply a horrible human and it sounds like Haffner is as well. I was on the Shocklines forum but did not really interact there much. I did have one very positive experience there though. I do not recall the topic, but I posted that the Full Moon Press lettered edition of The Wildman was a holy grail book for me. It was the first release from Full Moon Press; I had only ordered the limited and I loved the story and the production quality. The lettered looked amazing but I could not find one. The next day I have an email from Rick Hautala thanking me for the nice words. He also stated that he always keeps two PC copies of each edition and he was not sure how many they had sent him. He offered to check and if he had more than two he would gift one to me. I accepted of course but a few days later he contacted me again that he only had two and could not send me a lettered, but he had something else that he was sending. I received a limited PC inscribed! I have since added the lettered to my collection.

Unfortunately Full Moon press never fully released their second title!

I had a few interactions with Hautala over the years, and a more friendly gentleman you couldn't find; his gift doesn't surprise me a bit. Have you read his biography, THE HORROR, THE HORROR? It's brief but solid and definitely worth reading if you're a fan. Still available on Amazon, just ten bucks:

Keeping my eye out on this one - my wife would LOVE this.

Also headed to a rare book festival here in August and I think I'm just going to pull the trigger and pick up a 1st/1st for her. Last time we went, there were plentiful copies around so I'm hoping to find one.

I’m going for a copy of LONESOME DOVE — if I can get up at 4am my time for the Noon BST opening of orders. East coast would be even earlier. Why a British publisher would time it like that for presumably its first or second biggest market is beyond me. May just have to hope copies remain three, fours later.

I seem to recall Full Moon being a whole shitshow and debacle, but I can't remember all of the details.

I had quite a few interactions with Rick on Shocklines, and he always seemed like a great guy. Gone too soon.
