I'm sad to report that Hingston & Olsen, the publishers of the wonderful four sets of GHOST BOX chapbook sets, is shuttering. Their announcement reads in part as follows:
Unfortunately, the realities of making books—especially the kind of books we like to make—have become a lot more real in 2026. The cost of paper has more than doubled. Our alternative publishing model and two-person staff can’t keep up with present-day storage, shipping, and distribution challenges. Social media, which was essential for spreading the word in those early years, got less effective (and way less fun). The numbers don’t make sense anymore. We tinkered with things to see if we could find a new formula, but ultimately we refuse to concede on our high production values or our rogue mentality. We remain stubborn, true believers in the power of the physical book—perhaps too stubborn?

If you haven't had the pleasure of owning one of these boxes and the prize chapbooks within, I'd highly recommend snagging this one and seeing what the fuss is all about. If you have extra cash, their Permanent Record non-fiction series makes for fun, interesting reading as well.

Man, another sad casualty of the shitty economy. Bummed to hear this, but I might have to break my "NO SPENDING!" rule to grab that Ghost Box.

Definitely worth breaking the rule this one time...it's a great set that's well worth the massively slashed price. I have all four boxes and love 'em.
(And sorry to everyone for that loonnnngggg hyperlink in the announcement portion...I have no idea how that snuck in as it definitely didn't look like that in my original post).

Thanks for sharing this @ronclinton - I also got the email this morning and it was sad to read about them shutting down. I have the four Ghost Boxes but haven't read anything in them. One of these days!
I just know they were neat products and a fun presentation.

Great to hear -- I think you'll really dig it, especially if this is your first Box. 'Course, I love me a chapbook, so I can't pretend to be objective, but still...it's a very nice production of some solid stories -- and now cheap, so what more could one want?

Same...I've ordered from them several times and have had no issues. That said, 11 days is a long time for radio silence, but I can't recall if they even send shipping notifications, so who knows, maybe it's already on its way.

They said in the order confirmation that they would notify me when the box shipped, so I'm assuming that it hasn't yet.

I also ordered this. Haven't heard or received it either. Not terribly worried I assume they had a bunch of shipping to do.
