Horror Comics

Yeah Marvel's OOP editions is quite frustrating. While they seem to have less evergreen titles compared to DC, there are some titles that should always be in print.  PAD's Hulk, Claremont's X-Men, Bendis's Daredevil for example. Not sure they need to keep Micronauts or The Nam in print all of the time.

I'm not the biggest fan of omnibuses, I'd rather have smaller oversized collections, but they are great for collecting full runs or stories. 

I picked up the huge Kirby DC omnibus a few years back, that had THE DEMON in it, and I loved his work on that series/character. Not everything in the omnibus was as fun as ol' Etrigan, but it was a solid collection. The FOURTH WORLD omnibus was great...it was nice to be able to read the work in chronological order, rather than as series-centric collections. Kirby...not a great writer, but I've really come to appreciate his art and massive ideas as I've grown older.

I agree, the niche stuff probably doesn't need to be constantly in print, and the rotation in and out of print would make solid business sense. Some of the other stuff boggles the mind. It's even more confusing when you see later volumes in print, but the first couple are OOP. One has to wonder how many sales they miss out on due to this.

Good to hear a vote for Kirby's The Demon. I've heard it's "lesser" Kirby--I don't know if it's true, but I read somewhere Kirby wasn't too thrilled with doing The Demon in the first place--so some people write it off. Since I've recently pulled together a lot of the post-Crisis stuff--Wagner's mini and the full run of the Grant/Ennis run--I thought it might be fun to read the originals before dipping into the rebooted versions.

I've little experience with The Fourth World books. I do have a TPB of the first 10 issues of Mister Miracle, but it's in black and white, so I keep pushing it off. The new DC Finest Collections seem like a good way to dig into the series. I will agree that Kirby's imagination is a thing of beauty, though.

You'd do well to read Kirby's DEMON run before the newer ones, as a lot of the supporting cast and villains just kind of appear in the newer series, leaving me to wonder for decades "Why is that pillow alive...?", among other burning questions.
